An elbow is a vital pipe fitting used to join two pipe sections while changing the flow direction, most commonly at 90°, 45°, or 180°. Short radius elbows are ideal for compact installations, while long radius elbows are preferred where smoother flow and lower pressure drop are required. The ends of these fittings can be prepared for butt-welding, threading (usually female), or other connection methods. When each end has a different size, the product is known as a reducing or reducer elbow.
